Our Vision

Small changes. Shared ideas. A positive difference.

What if we could make our community a place where living more sustainably was easier, more affordable and accessible to everyone?

That's what Sustainable Shrivenham is all about.

We are a community-led organisation working to inspire and support people in Shrivenham and the surrounding area to make positive changes in the way we live, shop, eat and use resources.

We believe that sustainability shouldn't be complicated, expensive or just for people who are already passionate about the environment. It's about making small, practical changes that work for everyday life. It's about wasting less, reusing more, sharing what we have and making better use of the resources around us.

Our initial research, including feedback from our community survey and inspiration from the work of Project Drawdown, helped shape our thinking. But our focus is firmly on what we can do together, right here in our own community.

Making a difference, together

We want to create opportunities for everyone to get involved, learn something new and discover how small changes can add up to something bigger.

Whether it's choosing second-hand instead of buying new, reducing single-use plastic, making better use of food, learning to repair something rather than replace it, or sharing tools and skills with others, there are so many ways to make a difference.

We are working to:

  • Waste less and reuse more – keeping useful things in circulation, reducing unnecessary consumption and finding new uses for things that might otherwise be thrown away.

  • Make sustainable choices affordable – helping people discover practical ways to save money while reducing their environmental impact.

  • Share skills and resources – creating opportunities to learn, repair, make and share rather than everyone having to buy their own equipment and materials.

  • Connect our community – bringing people together through local projects, events, workshops and activities that make sustainability part of everyday life.

Get involved – there's a place for everyone

You don't need specialist knowledge, lots of spare time or a complete lifestyle change to take part. Every contribution, however big or small, helps.
