Membership Application

Sustainable Shrivenham belongs to our community.

It is here to help us come together and thrive as we move forward in what seems to be increasingly difficult times.

Sustainable Shrivenham is a Community Benefit Society (CBS), a special form of Co-operative, owned and run by our members. Please read our CBS rules here >> CBS Rules

Our aim is:

Sustainable Shrivenham aims to equip the local community with the information, skills and resources to inspire and enable them to make more sustainable choices in their everyday lives.

By becoming a member of Sustainable Shrivenham you are:

  1. Showing a commitment to Sustainable Shrivenham and supporting sustainable actions locally.

  2. Giving us a bigger voice when speaking to local organisations and businesses, or seeking grants for our work.

  3. Able to attend and vote at our AGM, and collaborate on projects and initiatives.

Sustainability is a challenge that the whole world faces but it is one that will be best met if we begin with solving issues at a local level. The more groups there are, the greater the impact grows. In the same way, the more involvement we have from individuals in our community the greater we can effect change at a local level and contribute to the whole.

Many hands make light work, so we need to really engage people and draw them into the conversation. That way we ensure that we really are working not just for, but with the community. The more diverse our range of members in regards of age, sex, race, etc, the better is your picture of how issues affect the entire community. Lasting change in any locality will only happen if people and organisations are genuinely engaged.

Membership - What Does it Mean?

There are lots of different things you can do as part of a group so there’s a role for everyone.

  • Ensure your voice is heard

  • Together Broaden our understanding of local issues and ways to develop effective support

  • Help facilitate ways forward through events workshops etc.

  • Help others to join the conversation

What Commitment is Required

Whatever time you can. We understand that people have full and busy lives.

  • Attend the Annual General Members meeting, which will follow a set agenda to be circulated prior to the meeting, so members can request items to be considered under the standard topics or within A.O.B.

  • We would ask that our members pay an annual nominal membership fee of a minimum of £5 to assist with annual funding and campaigns.

  • Members can join the Board of Directors when vacancies arise and further influence our future focus and strategies.

To apply for membership, please complete the form below
