What next for The Refillery?

Big news: The Refillery is moving in with The Hub this spring!

When the idea of The Refillery was first dreamed up, The Hub was lucky enough to be in a rent-free space. By the time The Refillery opened its doors, we were also facing uncertainty about whether The Hub would even continue into 2026. Creating The Refillery at that moment helped keep our work and values alive through a time of change.

Since then, The Refillery has achieved so much and taught us a lot. We were also really pleased to share that The Hub will continue in the same building, although, like many things these days, it now comes with increased running costs.

So, looking ahead to spring, we’ve taken a careful look at what will be sustainable for the future and made an exciting decision:
The best bits of The Refillery will be moving into the new Hub, alongside everything that already makes the Hub such a popular and well-loved space.

This means one stronger, brighter home for Sustainable Shrivenham, bringing refill, community activities and all our shared values together under one roof. It’s not the end of The Refillery story… it’s the next chapter!

This step is all about building a resilient, welcoming Hub for the future and continuing to build a greener vision with our community in the best way we can.

Thank you, as always, for your amazing support . We’ll be sharing more details soon, so keep an eye on this space!

Building a Greener Future Together:
The Refillery and Sustainable Shrivenham

If you’ve visited The Hub, The Refillery or The Repair Cafe over the last three years, you’ll know they have been more than just a place to recycle, reuse, refill and repair. They have been community spaces where ideas have grown, friendships have formed, and a shared vision for a more sustainable Shrivenham has taken shape and we’d love for the whole village to be part of shaping the future of our work.

Why we need your help

We rely on volunteers to keep both all of our projects running. Without them, we simply couldn’t do what we do—our paid staff hours alone don’t cover the full opening times. It’s thanks to our incredible volunteers that we’ve been able to open the doors, keep prices low, and make sustainable living something the whole community can take part in.

The commitment our volunteers have shown over the past six years has been nothing short of inspiring. They’ve fixed bikes, sorted donations, manned the till, cleaned, stocked shelves, planned events, and welcomed every visitor with a smile. Their hard work and dedication have made Sustainable Shrivenham the success it is today.

Whether you can offer an occasional hour, a regular shift, or ideas for how Sustainable Shrivenham can grow, your input will help keep our community resources thriving. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, learn new skills, and make a direct difference to Shrivenham’s future.

Together, we can build on the incredible progress we’ve made so far and create a sustainable, community-driven future—one refill at a time.
